Faded Graffiti

Faded Graffiti
We grew up in a city that forgot our name
The walls were cracked, but we played the game
Our hearts were rusted, but we tried to stand
Holding love in the palm of a broken hand

The streets were cold, but we felt the heat
The fire of anger beneath our feet
My father’s fists like the city’s rain
Beating down, leaving marks of pain

Faded graffiti on the walls of my mind
Love lost in a city too dark to find
We bled on the streets where dreams would die
Chasing shadows beneath the broken sky

My mother whispered through the walls at night
A broken promise, a flicker of light
But the city swallowed every sound
And I was lost before I could be found

We grew up fast, we didn’t have a choice
No one heard a scared child’s voice
The streets told stories we couldn’t deny
A love corroded, a silent goodbye

Faded graffiti on the walls of my mind
Love lost in a city too dark to find
We bled on the streets where dreams would die
Chasing shadows beneath the broken sky

Now I look back at the city we knew
Faded dreams and hearts that never grew
We were just kids trying to survive
But love in the city never stays alive

Faded graffiti on the walls of my mind
Love lost in a city too dark to find
We bled on the streets where dreams would die
Chasing shadows beneath the broken sky
