The First Time I Tried Karaoke (Expanded)
A handheld wonder, a star tonight,
Notes flew wrong, a frightful sight.
Crowd cheered, or jeered,
My singing career, weirdly premiered.
The screen scrolled the words too fast,
My voice cracked on the high note,
And for three minutes and forty-two seconds
I was the worst singer in the room.
But when the song ended,
The strangers at the bar raised their drinks.
Turns out, nobody comes to karaoke
For perfection.
