The First Time I Saw Snow (Expanded)
White wonder descended from the grey,
Cold crystals catching on my sleeve.
I stood beneath the falling veil,
A child who couldn’t quite believe.
The world grew quiet, muffled, still,
Each flake a whispered, frozen prayer.
I caught them on my tongue and laughed,
Tasting winter’s frozen air.
Footprints marked where I had been,
A trail across the virgin white.
And everything I’d ever known
Looked different in that silver light.
