The Masks We Wear

The Masks We Wear
The world’s crumbling, we’re too scared to fall
Hiding our tears behind a painted wall
Every smile a mask we wear, hiding the ache
Pretending we’re fine, but we’re starting to break

Behind the masks, we’ve forgotten who we are
Blinded by the lies, we’ve come so far
In the ashes of the past, we bury our pain
But when the smoke clears, will we rise again?

Faces in the mirror, but they’re not quite right
Walking through this hell with a shadowed light
The laughter’s hollow, the joy’s a disguise
Beneath the surface, the truth never lies

Behind the masks, we’ve forgotten who we are
Blinded by the lies, we’ve come so far
In the ashes of the past, we bury our pain
But when the smoke clears, will we rise again?

The end is near, but we’ve lost our way
Every day’s a battle, another price to pay
We fight the storm, but we’ve forgotten why
As the world burns, we just close our eyes

We wear these masks to keep from breaking down
In a broken world, we just wear the crown
The apocalypse is here, but we’re still in disguise
Hiding from the truth, pretending we’re alive

Behind the masks, we’ve forgotten who we are
Blinded by the lies, we’ve come so far
In the ashes of the past, we bury our pain
But when the smoke clears, will we rise again?
